How we came to be

The Huddersfield Baptist Fellowship was set up by three Baptist churches working in partnership - Dalton Baptist Church, Longley & Lowerhouses Community Church and Milnsbridge Baptist Church. The partnership came about as a result of the "Huddersfield Conversation" initiated by the Yorkshire Baptist Association.

After a time of working together under the umbrella of the former CCN, Huddersfield, the three churches agreed to continue this partnership, working with Christians across the town and further afield with one common goal - to see people get to know Jesus Christ as their personal saviour and fulfil their God-given potential.

In April, 2018, Dalton Baptist Church closed its doors after a service of thanksgiving and celebration. The two remaining churches continue to work with friends from Dalton and are praying for God's wisdom and clarity for the future.

During these uncertain times, one thing is for sure - we want to see our communities come to God and fix our focus firmly on the Great Commission (Matthew 28 v 19)

"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

In doing so we aim to be missional, not maintenance focused; equip God’s people; remove the burdens of simply ‘running’ church; give freedom to people to be who God has called them to be by sharing resources and encouraging people to use and develop their God-given talents.
