Meet Julie "Joolz" Walker

Tell us a bit about yourself:-

You will find me in the Longley office on a Friday. My role is varied and covers admin support, communications, social media and the website.
I  live in Huddersfield and I enjoy dining out, socialising, listening to live bands, and going to festivals. I love to visit friends in Greece - I speak Greek so it is a good opportunity for me to use it!

1. What is your favourite scripture and why?

My favourite scripture is Proverbs 3 v 5 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him and He will make your paths straight.”

2. Do you have any favourite songs or hymns - and why do you like them?

My favourite Christian song is My Jesus My Saviour. I also love rock music – anything by Queen, Def  Leppard - I love dancing to rock music. "It's My Life" by Bon Jovi is on my funeral playlist!

3. Where is your favourite place – and why?

BalconyMy favourite place is a village called Tolo in the Peloponnese, Greece. I love to sit and stare at the sea and enjoy the breathtaking views across the bay.

4. Have you met any famous people?

I met quite a few through working in journalism – Noel Edmonds, Rick Parfitt and Francis Rossi (Status Quo), Cilla Black… name a few. Ken Dodd was really nice – he gave me an autographed tickling stick!

5. Name your ideal dinner party guests from any time, any place and why you would choose them.

Charlotte Bronte – I am a big fan of her writing – “Jane Eyre” is one of my favourite books.
Socrates – for a bit of philosophising!
Smith Wigglesworth – an inspirational Christian man.
Meryl Streep – I love her films, especially “Mamma Mia”. She was brilliant as Margaret Thatcher in “The Iron Lady”.

6. If your life story was set in a book or a film what would it be called?

For my spiritual journey: “The retractable dog lead” or more generally: “Journeying into the unknown – and often bizarre – on West Yorkshire’s public transport!”
